'The spy story to end all spy stories' is what Fleming set out to write. After all these years we still read the words he crafted on his golden typewriter and here I am, a Bond fan, enjoying his craft and the craft of others who helped to create the world of James Bond. The discovery of this world and my growing love for it was unpredictable and rather obscure, however it was not the man himself or the wild gadgets that gained my interest, it was the artistry of the written and cinematic story and creation of the films. I think the true essence of Bond lies within Fleming and his art for telling a story. I'll admit some of the Bond films aren't cinematic masterpieces in my eyes in terms of story-line, however they all had flare, excitement and passion. For me whats special about Bond is the lengths and breadths explored, as well as the dedication it took to create them, however, the most special thing for me is seeing the grit and honesty of Fleming's creation within the film. When watching my favourite Bond film Casino Royale I see Fleming as Bond, the man who created him, his alter ego. That is one aspect I hope never fades in Bond, the ability to see Fleming peaking through.
The Bond Bible is written, managed and designed by me, making this a very personal project. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I do creating it.
